  What VIN Number ?

A cars vehicle identification number (VIN) is the automotive equivalent of human “DNA”.

It sets the vehicle apart from the millions of other vehicles out there. Since 1981, it has been consisted of 17 digit characters. It displays a vehicles uniqueness and heritage and provides a form of “factory to scrap yard” identification. It can be used to track recalls, registrations, guarantee, warranty claims, thefts and insurance coverage.

Each character or digit has a particular purpose. VIN number does not include the letters I (i), O (o), or Q (q) (to avoid confusion with numerals 1 and 0).

A Vehicle Identification Number, or VIN, is stamped onto a small metal plate and usually fixed to the driver’s side of the dashboard so that it is visible through the windshield. It is used by police in case of theft, insurance companies in case of accident, manufacturing companies for recall, mechanics or anyone that has a need to identify the vehicle or its attributes.

However vehicle manufacturers can stamp the VIN anywhere they want; frequently the engine block will have the VIN number stamped on it.

How to understand vehicles VIN ?

A VIN is basically a serial number for your any car or truck . It is 17 characters long and is a mix of numbers and alphabets. It is divided into four parts :

1. World Manufacturer’s Identification (WMI - three numbers or letters)

2. Vehicle Description Section (VDS - five numbers or letters)

3. The VIN Accuracy Check Digit (one number)

4. Vehicle Identification Section (VIS - eight numbers or letters)

The first character identifies the manufactures country.

The second number or letter identifies the car manufacturer.

The third character is for vehicle type or manufacturing department,

While the fourth through eighth characters identify attributes of the vehicle, like body style (like sedan, hatchback, SUV) and engine type.

The ninth digit uniquely identifies the car, ensuring that no two cars within a 30 years period will have the same VIN number.

The 10th character is the model year,

The 11th is the assembly plant.

The 12th to 17th identifies the sequence of the vehicle rolling off the production line; the last four characters are always numeric.

Use of VINs while buying a used car :

There are many things a seller may not disclose to you, such as a salvage title, flood damage or an odometer rollback. Any of these and other issues can affects the safety, performance and even value of a second hand vehicle.

To make it more difficult for you to learn a vehicle’s history, crooked or cheater sellers may list the wrong VIN in an online vehicle advertisement or may not be willing to provide the VIN at all. A buyer should ask seller to provide VIN number. So in case seller hide or refuse to disclose the VIN, that could be a sign of that seller do not want you to learn vehicles history.

Buyer can get the VIN from seller and can get the car history from several online website or some agencies reports like CARFAX report. If VIN do not match, you may avoid the deal from seller.

Because of one thing following another going completely wrong her old used car , it had become time for it to declare enough is definitely enough and make the leap and check out at purchasing her some sort of newish used caras an upgraded.

So the shopping trip began at the weekend, and we viewed a few different types of cars to check out precisely what was well worth buying.

A single idea I would offer though, is when you have an idea of what type of used suv you’re looking at buying, investigate the following ahead of venturing out there.

Road Tax

Car Insurance Group

MPG

Vehicle History Check (thecheck.co.uk)

If you ever take on the above mentioned into account, it could possibly assist saving you time, and also disappointment if the car you want hold a top road tax band, or perhaps be out of the plan for car insurance. Additionally, with the growing price of fuel in the uk, considering how economical a car will be might help you save a load of money in the end.

So with the above taken into consideration, we chose to check out the Mazda3, plus the Honda Civic. (post to follow soon)

Now, I realize these kinds of motors may not be in everyone’s set of used cars to match just like for like, but trust me, I was a lot more than stunned with what We gained from taking these used cars out for the test drive.

This Mazda3 MPS Experience.

This particular vehicle’s catch phrase is “Dance with the Devil”, and that is pretty much the truth. The clutch is lighter compared to nearly anything, and so pulling away is often a fine art, as both my wife and myself equally imitating the Churchill puppy as we pulled away, and in the wet, this can feel just a little as a peperami “;it can be a bit of an animal”. The car it self was incredibly restless as you would expect, and management had been more suited to any boy racer, because although it possesses power, plus trust me, it’s plenty of power, (we drove the 2.2 diesel) it’s seems quite unsafe to be right behind the steering wheel, let alone in the passenger seat.

Interior however, is fairly nice, but nothing to blow you away, because it’s got everything you need yet looks standard compared to a few other car’s we saw.

The passenger foot area seemed to be really minimal, plus although I’m a shorty my legs ended up resting against the dash, and so opening the glove box ended up being non existent, therefore if your taller than 5′8, then I wouldn’t even bother attempting this 1. The actual seats inside the back were fairly huge yet it does not imply that I would like to sit inside the back every time we all went out everywhere.

The actual boot however, was very spacious, however that may have connected with the fact there’s no spare tyre in their anymore, only a can of substance to repair the tyre with, (excluding blowouts)

Now this vehicle cost’s above ?22K brand new, therefore investing in a used car of this design is actually rare. The car insurance group is 34E and well, right after driving this particular vehicle, really was not interested in determining anymore facts, as I was going to Honda to test drive this Honda Civic 2.2.
